ABC’s medical drama series The Good Doctor is coming closer to the end of its television run of 7 years, but it surely isn’t leaving on a good note.

With all the heart-shattering plot twists that the last and seventh season left the viewers with, The Good Doctor’s finale will be bringing in even more bittersweet turns of events with one of them including a forgotten character’s return.

The trailer for season 7 penultimate episode titled Unconditional clearly features Claire Browne’s comeback to the show as she pays a visit to San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital for “a personal medical examination”, as the episode’s official synopsis on TVLine reads.

Though it may seem to be a really good way to say goodbye to the series by bringing one of its major characters back, Claire isn’t there for just a simple check-up as she appears to have breast cancer.

What makes the whole situation even worse, the finale’s brief description has also been already revealed, highlighting that the last episode of the whole show will mark the doctors’ collaborative work “to solve one of the most important cases of their careers”.

While the previous episodes suddenly brings Claire back after a 3-season break, the chances are she will become her ex-colleagues’ most difficult case.

Claire Browne has been one of the show’s main characters during the first four seasons and was quick to garner the viewers’ love thanks to her determination of becoming a surgeon while also trying to navigate her personal life and unstable relationships with her mother.

By the end of season 4, Claire opts for continuing her work in Guatemala as she becomes adamant about giving all the necessary medical help. In season 5 Claire made her appearance as a guest star to give her ex-colleagues an update about her landing the job of Chief of Surgery in Guatemala.
