There are so many TV shows these days, but only a few manage to become classics like this one.

We all love to watch quality movies and TV shows: it's an easy way to get dopamine, relax, and have fun. Re-watching episodes or entire seasons is a special pleasure: immersing yourself in the atmosphere of the show and re-experiencing its emotions is not only pleasant, but also useful.

Why do so many people like to return to familiar plots when new high-profile TV shows are released every month? They give our brains a break from excessive cognitive load.

So it's no surprise that there are entire communities on Reddit reminiscing about forgotten shows and movies, and some of them are real hidden gems just waiting to be discovered.

We all watch 1980s-inspired shows these days, but what about the original series from the 80s? Reddit users remembered an overlooked but no less iconic British series The Young Ones, which received unconditional love from fans. Its rating on Rotten Tomatoes? Impressive and almost perfect 96%.

What is The Young Ones About?

Great Britain, 1982, the reign of Margaret Thatcher. Four students, whose presence in the university building at least once a year can be called a miracle, rent a house together. And it would be hard to find four other people who would be so unsuited to living together.

Vyvyan is a punk in his most aggressive form and a future doctor. He is the owner of a bright red mohawk and metal stars on his forehead, as well as bats and other heavy, potentially dangerous objects.

Rick is a classic example of an only child in a family, a future sociologist who is also an anarchist, trying to finish reading Karl Marx only to fall asleep on the first pages. He writes very bad poetry, but at the same time considers himself a brilliant poet.

Neil is a hippie, a vegetarian, and the only person who tries (unsuccessfully, of course) to put the house in order.

Mike is the unofficial leader of the group, the proud owner of a rubber doll in his bedroom. He is constantly trying to find a way to get money and a real girlfriend. Mike is older than the others and in all critical situations he is the main planner of how to get out of yet another problem.

The Young Ones Is One of The Classic British Comedy Shows

One of the most influential British comedy shows of all time, The Young Ones proved that sitcoms didn't have to have consistent storylines. Considered the founder of "alternative comedy" in the UK, it was a hit the year it was released, despite criticism for the amount of violence, but now The Young Ones is a true classic.

Chaos, absurdity, satire, omnipresent puns, the atmosphere of the 80s, a huge amount of violence, a wave of ironic, but no less sincere and charming youth rebellion, musical performances, a lot of cameos – if all these words make your heart beat faster, then it is definitely time to check out The Young Ones.
