Prime Video Snatches 3 Major Netflix Stars For the Best Romcom of Spring 2024

Looking back at previous 2024 romantic comedy releases, Netflix seems to be losing the game with its Irish Wish, which isn't even close to the success of Prime Video 's The Idea of You. And Amazon doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

On the contrary, the platform's next romcom masterpiece threatens to attract even more loyal Netflix viewers. Starring Bridgerton 's Charithra Chandran, Cobra Kai's Tanner Buchanan and Heartstopper 's Sebastian Croft, How to Date Billy Walsh should be at the top of everyone's "to watch" list.

How to Date Billy Walsh Release Date

Aimed primarily at teen and young adult audiences, How to Date Billy Walsh tells the story of two best friends, Amelia and Archie, portrayed by Chandran and Croft. Although Archie is head over heels for his girlfriend, he keeps his feelings to himself for fear of jeopardizing their friendship forever.

Things get even more tense when Buchanan's Billy Walsh transfers to their school and a love triangle forms. The more Archie tries to separate his friend from her crush, the worse it gets for him. Finally, he must decide what's more important: saving their friendship or ruining Amelia's romance?

While the premise is fun and lighthearted, it's not exactly the plot that will attract the majority of viewers. Prime Video has managed to cast young talent from three of Netflix's massive series: Bridgerton, Cobra Kai, and Heartstopper. Considering the huge online following all three have, the project is already set up for a huge success.

But that's not all of the popular actors appearing in the movie. Other cast members include The Big Bang Theory 's Kunal Nayyar and The World's End's Nick Frost.

Directed by Alex Sanjiv Pillai, who previously worked on episodes of Netflix's Bridgerton, How to Date Billy Walsh has been in production longer than expected. Fans were hoping to see the comedy air in September 2023, but due to an undisclosed reason, the premiere was pushed back.
