Despite New Vegas being one of Fallout’s most iconic locations, there’s a genuine plot reason for the show taking the action to Mr. House’s former stronghold.

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Fallout Season 1.

In the finale of Fallout Season 1, Hank MacLean takes off to New Vegas with Lucy and Cooper hot on his trail. The latter duo’s motivation is obvious — they’re following their target — but it’s never explicitly explained why Hank needed to go to New Vegas. There were, however, subtle hints at his reasons that make a lot of sense.

Hank Wants to Awaken His Superiors

Having been compromised, Hank MacLean is left with no allies. He’s alone and hunted by not some random raiders — he’s hunted by the feared Ghoul. Hank needs to escape, but he also needs allies, and powerful ones, to protect him. The only obvious choice for him, since he can’t return to the Vault, are his superiors.

Where are they? Why, in New Vegas, of course.

Immediately after the final shot, the New Vegas scenery, the credits begin with an image of a billboard advertising Cryo Suites at Tops. Tops is one of New Vegas’ biggest casinos, and cryo suits … It’s obvious that Vault-Tec’s biggest bosses are still alive and frozen, and they’re not in Vault 31. The cryo suits ad is far from the only clue pointing to New Vegas as the seat of their frozen residences, however.

Vault-Tec Bosses Are Likely in New Vegas

As we see during the corporate meeting scene, Vault-Tec worked closely with other huge corporations on their apocalyptic project. Namely, there were two men of interest in the room: Big MT’s Frederick Sinclair who owned a casino in New Vegas and Rob-Co’s CEO Mr. House who… Also had a casino there — but what’s even more important, he controlled the entirety of the city, turning it into his stronghold.

Vault-Tec’s two powerful allies, both seated in New Vegas. All of them are using cryo pods or other methods to prolong their lives during the post-apocalypse. And these two allies have serious real estate in New Vegas. And those cryo suits are located in New Vegas, specifically, in the Tops casino. You get the picture.

In all likelihood, Hank MacLean is heading to New Vegas to awaken his bosses as there are no other logical places they could be. Combined with the end credits hint, this gives us a clear picture of what to expect in Fallout Season 2.
