It is also giving strong The White Lotus vibes.

Summary:

  • Back in 2023, the Pearl actress starred in the movie, following a couple who find themselves entangled in the deviations of the isolated resort’s sect.
  • It mixes scary parts with inventive sci-fi elements and contains one of the most remarkable Mia Goth’s performances.

Being recognized as one of the most talented young actresses of the 21st century, Mia Goth presents horror as her trademark genre. Starting from A Cure for Wellness (2016), the actress has been proving that she impeccably fits in the genre, continuing the fruitful trend of her career with the incredibly successful 2022 slashers X and Pearl.

However, there is a lesser-known 2023 horror movie, where Goth fully reveals her potential as the genre’s queen. Despite its sophisticated nature, it definitely appears to be a must-watch for all fans of the actress and for the most curious cinephiles.

Set in an isolated island resort, it focuses on the married couple, the writer in a creative crisis and his unhappy wife, coming there on a vacation. They meet Goth’s mysterious Gabi, who starts to show them the other side of the resort alongside her husband.

The latter couple then take the main characters outside the safe resort grounds, and there they can perform all sorts of violence with impunity. Their journey leads them to a sect of the foreigners enjoying hedonism, fetishes and crazy crimes on the island.

This synopsis can obviously remind you of HBO’s banger series The White Lotus, aired in 2021. It also follows the psychosocial dysfunctions of the rich, ending up in the same isolated resort, where their interactions are affected by their crazy personalities.

Without delving much into the sci-fi aspect of the feature, as it’ll bring some spoilers to it, we can assure you the horror part here is really worth-watching. The movie’s director, Brandon Cronenberg, perfectly places suspense and terrifying details.

Because of that, the film starts being reminiscent of such chilling 2018 horror hits, as Suspiria, in which Goth also starred, and Colin Farrell and Barry Keoghan’s The Killing of a Sacred Deer, presenting a nail-biting roller coaster of a movie too.

Titled Infinity Pool, Cronenberg’s horror gained much critics’ praise, earning a score of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, quite a decent one for this genre. Goth surely delivers here one of the best performances in her career, adding to the movie’s wholesomeness.

Get your nerves tickled by this horror, as Infinity Pool is available for streaming on Netflix , Hulu and Apple TV+ .
