Game of Thrones’ epic prequel is coming back to the screens with a new season in nearly a month and more details that start popping up promise a much heated battle than everyone may have expected.

While HBO’s previously released trailers say quite a lot about what’s going to unfold in season 2, one of the show’s actors has recently opened up about one timeline detail that makes the things even worse.

While talking about the upcoming season at a panel at CCXP, Lord Corlys Velaryon’s actor Steve Toussaint revealed that House of the Dragon will pick things up around 10 days after the first season’s finale.

The actor then passed on to discussing how everything that happened back in season 1 affected his character so much stating that Lord Corlys is “still coming to terms with the grief of losing his son, his brother, his daughter, and his heir, his grandson”. Just like everyone in Rhaenyra’s team, the Velaryons are also “in a very weakened and emotional state”.

Rhaenys Targaryen’s actress Eve Best added that her character, who happens to be Lord Corlys’ wife, will also be dealing with a lot of distress in the next season regarding the loss of her grandson Lucerys.

According to Best, Rhaenys will try to keep things together while also being “really tired” and spending most of her time with her dragon Meleys.

Making his own contribution into the discussion at the panel, Ewan Mitchell, who gets to portray Aemond Targaryen in the series, reflected on his character’s crucial role in the upcoming series now that he’s to blame for Lucerys’ death.

The actor stated that it was Aemond who “kick-started the Dance of the Dragons and drew first blood by killing Lucerys”, so in season 2 he’s forced to face the consequences of his deed owning up to them or rather sticking to his previous route and thus becoming “the most hated man in the realm”.

House of the Dragon’s season 2 will premiere on HBO on June 16.
