Summary

No matter how you slice it, you'll have to wait a few more months for the next installment of Venom. But if parasitic aliens fusing with human bodies is your thing, you're in luck.

Train to Busan director Yeon Sang-ho's new show is available on Netflix and will make for a fantastic April binge.

What is Parasyte: The Grey?

The manga 'Parasyte' by Hitoshi Iwaaki has already been adapted into an anime series about a high school student who finds his body infiltrated by an alien parasite with whom he now shares a symbiotic relationship.

Parasyte: The Grey is based on the same manga, but the parasite attaches itself to a girl after she's knocked off her motorcycle by a car. But she's not the only one who finds that the parasite has claimed squatting rights in her body. It soon becomes clear that this is a threat to humanity, as the parasite gradually makes its way into thousands of bodies as it attempts to spread and take over the Earth.

The show features familiar faces from your favourite K-dramas

Over the past few years – and with a fair amount of help from Netflix – we've come to know and love some of South Korea's top acting talent. If you've been keeping up with the most popular K-dramas, you'll undoubtedly recognize some of the actors who star in Parasyte: The Grey.

33-year-old Jeon So-nee plays the lead role of Jeong Su-in, who is knocked off her bicycle. The parasite attaches itself to her brain, but doesn't manage to take over, so she becomes part human and part parasitic menace. Viewers may recognize her from Encounter, When My Love Blooms, and Our Blooming Youth.

Joining her on the show is actor/director Koo Kyo-hwan, who you may have seen in Jane, Peninsula or as Han Ho-yu in the previous Netflix hit D.P. He also had a guest role in Extraordinary Attorney Woo. In this show, he plays Seol Kang-woo, who hunts down parasites while trying to find his sister.

The 44-year-old actor and singer, who has been active since the mid-nineties, starred in the award-winning film Juvenile Offender as well as TV shows The Great King, Sejong and The Family is Coming. She plays Choi Jun-kyung, who leads Team Grey in their quest to destroy the parasite.

With only six episodes to watch, Parasyte: The Grey is a show you can easily binge over a weekend. The most dedicated fans might even finish it in a single day. It's a show that's sure to grab you from the start and keep you intrigued and interested as the action unfolds.

We know it features some highly acclaimed actors, and the trailer alone will get your heart pumping.

So while it may not be a show that will keep you bingeing all of April, if you're a fan of Venom and desperate for some of that alien action, this is definitely one for you.
